Canadian County Master Gardeners

By Courtney Keck: Horticulture Educator Canadian County OSU Extension Service

Despite the recent weather, gardening season is about to be in full swing, and that includes Canadian County Master Gardener activity. The CCMGs represent the Canadian County Cooperative Extension Service, which is a part of Oklahoma State University – Stillwater. Their mission is to share research-based gardening information to the general public… that means you!

Canadian County Master Gardeners are made up of about 60 members from surrounding cities in Canadian County – El Reno, Yukon, Mustang, Piedmont, Calumet and even towns outside of the county. These members have gone through an extensive 12-week training class and 60-hour internship to obtain their certification. That sounds intense, but our Master Gardeners can assure you that it’s worth the investment. Our Gardeners gain not only valuable information and resources from OSU, but they gain a family and a purpose here in Canadian County.
