Getting to know our library board: Jill Phillps

Jill Phillips

What job and/or volunteer work do you do outside of the library board?

I am an insurance agent for Farmers in El Reno. I am an active member of First Christian Church and serve on the board for the Redlands Foundation.

How long have you been on the library board?

Approximately one month – brand new! 🙂

Where did you grow up?

El Reno

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from El Reno High School and then I went to the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University for college.

Tell us about your family.

I’ve been married to Justin for 15 years. He works for the Department of Defense as a financial analyst. We have two children – Graham, who will be 9 in July, and Caroline who just turned 6. They attend Maple School.

Do you have any pets?

Stella, our crazy Goldendoodle

What are some of your hobbies?

I love to go on dates with Justin and work out at Tribe Gym. We spend the majority of our time mowing our yard, swimming with the kids, and attending their activities, which include several hours of baseball, tee ball, basketball, dance, and more! Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you read?           What do you like to read?

I like to read autobiographies and self-help/spiritual books. In all honesty I just don’t have/make a ton of time for reading, but I do enjoy it when I have time time!

Why did you join the library board?

I believe our library is a great place for people in our community to enjoy, connect, and support. It has a lot to offer and has some upcoming changes that I’m excited to be a part of.

What is your favorite part about being on the library board?

I haven’t been on long enough to really have enough experience to say yet.

If you could have dinner with any author, who would it be??

JK Rowling seems like such a cliche answer, but I would have to go with her. Seems like it would be an interesting conversation!
